It is said that the demigod Maui loved to fish. One day his line caught, and as he pulled and pulled, one by one the Hawaiian Islands broke the surface of the sea. But he did not stop there. Standing on the brink of Haleakala's awesome crater, Maui snared the sun and received a promise to give the islands more daylight hours so that he and his people could have more time to fish. Anyone remember Royal Hawaiian Air Service. Captain Crane flew for them before joining the big leagues at United. That's my dad, silly, not me. Check this site out for a great story about landing at Kaanapali airport before they closed down:
